BS ConnectPrivacy policy

We keep your profile, a 1.2 km area instead of your location, and what you post and send. We do not sell it or use it for adverts. You can delete all of it yourself, at any time.
Who we are
BS Connect is an independent app for students of the IIT Madras BS programmes. It is run by ⟨your name⟩, ⟨city⟩, India. It is not made or endorsed by IIT Madras.

Who this is for
BS Connect is for people aged 13 and over. We ask the year you were born, and some limits apply until you are 18. We do not knowingly keep information about anyone younger.
What we collect, and why

| Programme, level, interests, city | To show you to classmates and let them filter. |
| A 1.2 km area | To place you on the map, and to check a badge picture was taken at its event. Your phone works it out; your exact position is not sent to us. |
| Posts, replies, messages, photos you add | To show them to the people you chose. |
| Connections, plans, sign-ups, focus sessions | To run those parts of the app. |
| An address for your phone, and when you were last here | To deliver notifications, and to show friends you are around. |
What we do not collect
- Your exact location, or where you have been
- Your contacts, microphone or photo gallery
- An advertising ID, or anything used for adverts
Who else handles it
| Amazon Web Services | Stores everything, on a server in Mumbai. |
| Signs you in, and carries notifications to Android phones. | |
| Expo | Passes notifications on to Google. |
| Mapbox | Draws the map. It sees your internet address and which part of the map you look at. |
Nobody else. We do not sell or rent your information.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it or delete your account. Backups are overwritten after 7 days.

- Change anything on your Profile
- Hide from the map: Settings, Who sees you
- Delete your account: Settings, or on this site
- Ask for a copy of what we hold: write to us
